Garrison Weekend with
Herrick's 1st Coy

Saturday August 20
10:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Sunday August 21
10:00 AM - 3:30 PM

What is a Garrison? It is, simply, a body of troops (professional military or militia) station to guard a fortified place (in the case of Number 4, the fortified section of town).

What it Herrick's Regiment? Samuel Herrick's Regiment of Green Mountain Rangers was formed in July or 1777. Within approximately forty days 300 militia were raised: these men (aged 15 through 60 years) supplied themselves with materials and arms, and joined with troops from Massachusetts and New Hampshire for the Battle of Bennington. Two month later Herrick's Regiment saw action at the retaking of Fort Ticonderoga (what is often called Brown's Raid).

This weekend, 1st Company Herrick's [recreated] Regiment will demonstrate 18th century life in garrison including musket and cannon demonstrations.
