Re-enactors in a battle at the south gate

Witness the sights and sounds of the American War of Independence at The fort at Number 4 the weekend of September 28th and 29th.

On Saturday the gates open at 10:00 AM

  • --You may visit Crown and Rebellious Americn Camps (if a tent's' flaps are open you are welcome to peek inside, but please, do not enter the tent unless the owner invites you in.
  • --Tour our fortified village where you will find the Crown Command Headquarters in the Farnsworth Lean-To.
  • --On Saturday we anticipate that our baker will engaged in some surious baking at our Community Bake Oven (on the Common)
  • --Visit sutlers and artificers
  • --Pick up food at the Charlestown Fire Department booth
  • --Battle comences at 1:30 PM, for your safety and the safety of the reenactors, please remain behind the safety line durinf the battle
  • --Check in with our Militia Captain in David Farnsworth House where he will have a display of 18th century style weapons
  • --Visit with our guest docent from the Bennington Battlefield (also in David Farnsworth house)
  • --Visit the Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum Tent
  • --4:30 PM the museum and grounds will be closing for the day
  • On Sunday the gates open at 10:00 AM

  • --Sunday Morning Prayer Service, 18th Century style, will be at 10:30 AM on the Common (aka Parade Ground). This will be a greatly shortened version of the prayer service you would have had in the 18th century.
  • --Morning and nooning foods are available at the Charlestown Fire Department booth
  • --Tour our fortified village and take a look at the weapons display in David Farnsworth House
  • --1:30 PM battle commences. For your safety and that of the reenactors, please stay behind our safety line when viewing the battle.
  • --The American and British Camps will be struck and closed to the public.
  • --3:00 PM Museum buildings close for the day
  • Tickets can be purchased at the door both Satruday and sunday, or they may be purchased in advance.
